On any day of the week we can be found in one of these places with the exception of Dewsbury, Meadowhall and peoples lofts.

Dewsbury is an effort to get to, Meadowhall also known as Meadow Hell a place I cannot take to, and lofts mean work!

Time for tea and something to eat.

New central heating pump.

 Here I have removed the old central heating pump after closing the gate valves top and bottom.

First I checked that the power was getting through, it was but the motor was not turning.
I then turned off the power at the mains disconnected the wires checked that the impeller was not clogged up with grot. I washed it out made sure the impeller was spinning freely and reconnected it to the power. Still no movement I decided it was dead and went out and bought a new one.

Connected it up to the power and switched it on after I heard that it was running I put the cover on and reconnected it to the pipework.

Checked for leaks, dry as a bone, job done.

Robins nest.

31st May. Every time I went into my hut at the allotment a bird would fly out. The first time I thought nothing of it, but after a few times I wondered if there was a nest some where. I eventually found it in a dark corner of the hut between an old filing cabinet and weed killers. It was a Robin everyone loves Robin Redbreasts they're supposed to be lucky and I need some of that this year in the allotment!!!
After it had flown off one time I felt in the nest there were some eggs in but I did not take any photos, I don't know why.
  

11th June. Today I could see the eggs had hatched so here is the first signs of life.

16th June, five days later just look how they have come on. It's getting a bit overcrowded in the nest already.

19th June, only four chicks in the nest now, it's too small to hold six. Two are now living on the floor of my hut.

One of the chicks that was on the ground i put it back in the nest but it did not stay in long.

21st June, then there were none. It seems to me that this must be the Robins game plan. They build their nest pretty low about four foot off the ground, the chicks grow their camouflage feathers jump out of the nest and spend the rest of their young lives scurrying around on the ground.

Rotherham indoor Market

Outside a little bit of colour on a dull day.

Everyday things.

Everyday the washing goes out on the line, the cat comes for a stroke another day begins.

Car booting.

For one off jobs and cheap secondhand gear you can't beat a good car boot sale.

Hemswell Cliff. Car boot and Sunday market, by far the best for miles.

I’ve been looking to do a job for ages but have not had the tackle to do it so last Sunday I decided to try my luck at Hemswell Cliff. I’ve wanted to get an angle grinder big enough to do the job. Luckily for me due to the new health and safety laws contractors or not allowed on site with 240V gear they must use 110V equipment. So the contractors are off loading their 240V gear to anyone at a good price to cut their losses. I paid £10 for this angle grinder that’s less than the price of the blade.

   

Tuesday. I have wanted to make a soak away for the rainwater for years but my concrete path, as always been a barrier. So today armed with my new second-hand cutter I started the job, it cut through the concrete like cutting through butter with a warm knife.

It’s hard to see the problem with the drainage on the photos but the path actually slopes the wrong way.

The bottom photo is the job finished, drainage working a treat. 

 

Refresher.

 Side shoots not wanted! Must be removed.

Nip out the side shoots and support the plant with tall enough canes!

Time to plant out.

 Time to plant out I need some room in the greenhouse for my tomatoes and some other things I'm wanting to start off.

Pumpkins ready to go in, not much chance of frost now that it's June.

 Runner beans up and running this is a first for me I don't usually set them off in the greenhouse but we are behind with the season.

My strawberries are well in flower, the potatoes starting to show and the onions are well on their way. 

 Eight foot canes the runners will be at the tops in no time at all.

The pumpkins are in, the canes are only markers so that I know where the root are when I feed them.
Pumpkins run wild once they start growing.
Next gardening blog most likely will be harvesting time.
