The third and last hormone implant today, honestly it does not hurt. I have never been fond of hypos, so I do not look if I have to have one. This was my last one so I just had to see it. I had the first one in the hospital, Una was with me (to hold my hand lol) and asked the nurse "will it hurt" I would be telling lies if I said no! She didn't know I was from Krypton, I heard the click the nurse said that's it, honestly I did not feel a thing and did not with the remaining two afterwards. I must be tougher that I thought!!!!!!! I have the syringe for a souvenir .

Hi Jen.
Hi Jen, I started this project just out of interest, a Californian House build. Our houses are built of bricks and mortar or concrete, so as yours are made of wood and cladding I was fascinated. Over half through the project I hit a problem. Photoworks transferred there business to Shutterfly, who mixed all my photos up so I had a lot of sorting out to do. Anyway I think I got things back in order so I've left well enough alone! This is the only way I can share the project with you as I don't know your E mail address or zip code. Anyway click on the link I hope you like it, if not I will remove the post if you wish me to. Dave.

Mosquitoes / Midges.
Midge net modeled by me, worth its weight in gold. The midges up in the Scottish Highlands area are unbelievable, from the end of May to the end of September they are wall to wall, you can not breath for them. There is another way to repel them, one that even the butch Scot Highlander uses, Skin So Soft from Avon they swear by it up there!!!

There and back.
Sunday first full day, the weather was none too promising so we decided on a low walk, wellies on and waterproofs at the ready. It wasn't long before we were garbed up for the rain, it turned out to be just a short shower. We did an eight mile hike over grass land and marshes, I do NOT usual do marshes, but a detour would have sent us miles out of our way also we didn't want to turn back. The marsh bit was very scary for me, I had visions of never been seen again!
Monday a beautiful day, started at Wrynose Pass went up and over the tops to the Old man of Coniston. On the way we passed a memorial to a Halifax Bomber Crew that crashed there in 1944. Eight young men from the Royal Canadian Air Force. The cairn below is not the memorial,
I have put that on a separate post.
This is not the top of the Old Man, this is another cairn on the way there, it was another eight mile stroll there and back to the car.
Tuesday a low walk, the weather looked a bit iffy. Waterproofs at the ready we set off for a walk around Tilberthwaite Fells, it wasn't long before they were on. Once I put my waterproofs on I rarely take them off, the weather has to really buck up for me to do that!
Below our first pit stop of the walk about three hours into it.
Wednesday overcast and cold went to Bowness on Windermere for the best part of the day, then rode up to Kirkstone Pass. We got out of the car to check the conditions but it was too cold and windy to even consider walking anywhere. It was nice to have an easy day.
Thursday weather OK but we stayed low, walking round Lingmoor Fell and Little Langdale, another full days walking.
Friday nice weather, walked from Elterwater to Grasmere the shortest stroll of the week. Visited the village church and the burial site/grave of William Wordsworth. All in all we've had a good week.
Posting the postcards Tuesday near Dungeon Ghyll, must keep in touch with the world.
Looking towards Bowfell and Stake Pass.
A dry bit on Sundays walk, which way shall we go?

Courgettes and Pumpkins.
Raspberry.
Hot on the heels of the Strawberries comes my Raspberries. The Strawberry crop is almost done. The Raspberry crop have the advantage that they can be deep frozen and thaw out good, strawberries on the other hand thaw to mush.
My Strawberry bed at the moment. It's been a very good year for strawberries we've had tons.
These are the first of my Raspberries, Una loves them, I can't take to them!

Things in the allotment.15/6/11.
Broad beans.
Carrots.
Onions, Shallots and lettuce.
Two rows of Leeks.
French Beans just showing.
I went to the allotment early this morning to look for our Stevens office key, he lost it there yesterday tea time. After we found it he went off to work, I stayed on and took photos. When I got home I noticed on the photo above a escapee chicken from the next door allotment, I immediately went back and caught it. NO I did NOT kill it, I put it back where it had come from, I have never knowingly killed anything!
Small, but I am off roaming for a week, this could have caused havoc with the young plants in the time I was away, lucky I had taken some photos!

Worker Bees.
My bramble blackberry hedge, the same one the council vandalized last year, I hope the verbal they got has not gone to waste!
These are my thorn less Black berry crop that will follow the Raspberries, these are good for freezing. This crop is on my plot (vandal proof), they have an entirely different taste to the bramble berries much sweeter.

New Gas Mains.
The estate opposite have all had new gas pipes fitted, our side will be done
later in the year.
New plastic inserts going through the old cast iron pipework.
The old gas pipes are about 5" in diameter the plastic being a shade smaller.
It has all been done with minimal disruption, and no traffic control.
