Rawmarsh fair (Party in the Park)

Yesterday Saturday was a wash out torrential rain storms. Today the opposite sunshine with clouds and really hot. I love going to the fair but my head and stomach just don't do rides at all.

We're never far from the sea.

Where ever you are in England you are never more than eighty miles from the sea, on average a two hour drive and you're there. Though I do like the coast I do like the countryside better.
It is always much colder on the coast than inland, that is not to say it is cold on the coast it can be warm sometimes but when it is, it is still warmer inland.
This is the Peak District near Sheffield the first National Park in England just thirty miles from home at this point, but the park actually starts on the outskirts of Sheffield about ten miles from home.

It is safe to walk past cattle but if they have calves and you have a dog it can be a bit dodgy they can turn nasty.

This bull didn't look too happy with himself so we gave him a wide berth.

We spotted this baby rabbit, judging by the reflection in it's eye it had also spotted us.
The two of us our Steven and me.

Everything watches everyone in the country, even the bird is looking over its shoulder.

We are under the flight path of Manchester Airport and no I have not yet been on one of these silver birds, but I am working myself up to it one day. PERHAPS!

 Edale village.
A stone thone a rest well earned.

Things so far.

This year I'm doing things different, I have gone down from two allotments to one.
As a trial I am growing my courgettes in tubs at home having them close to the kitchen will make it easier to watch them grow and catch them at the right size. They grow so fast in a couple of days they can go from too small to too big and turn into marrows, I don't like marrow.

I am also growing cucumbers for the first time ever, this will be a learning curve I have never seen a cucumber plant. I have been told they need more heat than tomatoes, will have to see what happens.

My grape vine is doing well I think it is a little way in front of last year I'll check the diary.

My tomato plants are looking well, REMEMBER to pinch out the side shoots!!!!

My cucumber plants are running a bit wild I think I will trim two of them back and leave two be and see how they grow.

I have several bunches of grapes growing on the vine, I hope they are better than last year.
Last year they were small but sweet, believe it or not these are red grapes when ripe.
