Something English.

The cross roads on Warren Vale in the 1950s & 1960s claimed many lives in road traffic accidents until this roundabout replaced it.

Roundabouts on crossroads and busy road junctions.

The roundabout on the Wombwell Bypass.

Seaside rock, all English seaside resorts sell rock with their name going all the way through it.

Net curtains.

The English Flag.
Bluebell time.

Wind Sculptures.

Today 9th April halfway through doing the bathroom I had a day off. It is our Stevens birthday and he wanted to walk in the Peak District to mark the day.
It wasn't too cold but the wind was blowing really strong.
Once we got to the top the wind dropped and it turned quite pleasant.

Snoopy.

Not quite the Grand Canyon but I didn't fancy trudging through peat mud knee deep.

Almost at the end of a nine mile hike, home in time for tea.

Replaced the bath.

It all started out with me just removing the old silicone sealant round the bath when I noticed a hairline crack in the surface. I knew I would be wrong but I hoped it was just a surface crack, on removing the bath panel it proved to be all the way through.
Straight down to the showroom for a new bath.

Taking an old fashioned cast iron bath out is easy you just hit it with a 7lbs hammer and it smashes into manageable piece. This one is plastic more awkward and a tight fit, it required cutting into pieces.

Once the body of the bath was out it just took a little bit of brute force to remove the rest.

The old dark blue tiles had to come off along with some of the plaster so that I could get the new bath in position.

Fitted the bath in place leveled it spot on plumbed it in and filled it with water. I then mortared around the bath making it securing to the wall leaving a narrow gap to pump some sealant into before I re-tiled.

Removed all the dark blue tiles and replaced them with white just to see how it looks.
If it looked OK then it would do, if not then I would have a level surface to tile over. I read somewhere that it's easier to tile over tiles than take them off.

Just wants new floor covering and tittivating up.

Job done looks OK to me is it OK for you Una?

Last day of the Rail Pass.

The end of the free rail pass in South Yorkshire, not unexpected we were the only people that had it exactly why I don't know. Socialism was strong in SY once upon a time until the government waged war on us.
To be honest it is much quicker traveling by car to Huddersfield than by train parking up is the problem.

Huddersfield Post Office.
St Peter's Parish Church Huddersfield, half twelve I don't think the sun will come out today another dull and damp day.

There are some grand stone built buildings in Huddersfield.
The Railway Station more like a Stately Home.

 End of an era.

Leeds and Wakefield.

Leeds Market Hall. Traveled by train from Swinton SY to Leeds NY.

It was too cold to walk about up Leeds so we took a bus ride to Wakefield then back home by train, just checked out the new Railway Station.
Wakefield high security prison on the left hand side of the tracks looking North.
The new Mutli-storey car park on the right hand side.

Wakefield new Railway Station.
