Yorkshire pudding.

Yorkshire pudding, the way we have them in Yorkshire eaten as a starter.
Yorkshire pudding is a belly filler doing what it says filling the belly, so that the rest of the meal goes further when there are lots of people (kids) sat round the table.

I was one of seven kids, this is what meal time was like every day, with one exception meat was in very short supply. War time rationing was still on into the early 1950's, eggs meat sugar fruit
all were in short supply, I don't think I had a banana until I was in my teens.

Northerner's love stodgy food, this is one of my favourite winter fuels.
